Destiny Finds Her Way: How a Rescued Baby Sloth Learned to Be Wild By Margarita Engle What an adorable book! This author is fantastic anyway and it's a Nat Geo Kids book! The photos are just so cute and clear! Just want to hug the baby! It tells of baby Destiny who was found on the ground and mom wouldn't take her. She is blind in one eye and how this was a problem trying to train her to climb. The photos and text follow Destiny from bottle feeding, learning to climb, meeting friends, pooping, all the way to release. Yes, pooping is a big deal to sloths. Truly a precious book about a precious animal. Great way to introduce children to nature. I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this gorgeous book! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"When Destiny was found by the Sloth Institute in Costa Rica, she was sick, thin, and one of her eyes was closed and not working. The Sloth Institute took her in and introduced her to other sloths as she started to recover. She never regained the use of her one eye, but that didn't stop Destiny from hanging out with her new buddies, or getting healthier and stronger. Last August, Destiny was fitted for her tracking collar and released back into the wild. This inspiring story not only encourages kids to be determined like Destiny, but it also shows them the importance of being kind to those who may look different than us"-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Premise/plot: NONFICTION PICTURE BOOK. Narrative nonfiction. Destiny is a rescued baby sloth who was able to be returned to the wild. That's the quick story. What you see is exactly what you get with this one.
My thoughts: I loved this one. I loved THE PHOTOS. I loved the story. It was just a treat to read this one. It was so heartwarming. Yes, I know that gets overused. But how could your heart not melt when reading this story? When seeing these adorable pictures? It's a feel-good read. ( )
