This book was a unique and powerful take on the Lord's prayer. The story is told through the illustrations. A man, who is a landscaper, and his young daughter start the day heading out in a truck to pick up supplies and stopping to buy food at the deli. It then shows a picture of a woman sitting in a chair holding a broken necklace chain and looking out through the window at her overgrown yard and broken fence. An areal view shows that this house is in the midst of a block of tall brick city buildings. The scripture that goes with this page is "Your will be done", and there are doves flying over head. The dad and daughter stop at the ladies house ready to work. They fix the railings, the fence, rake and mow the lawn, paint the fence and plant flowers. While painting the fence, the girl finds a small golden medallion. They stop and eat a meal with the lady ("give this day our daily bread") and feed the birds. The lady tries to pay the father, but he refuses the money. While this exchange is happening, the girl spots the broken necklace chain. The girl questions whether she should return it to the lady, or keep it ("and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"). The girl decides to give it back, and shows the lady where she found it. As the father and the girl back up their supplies to leave, the lady puts the necklace on the girl.
