This book gave great tips and tricks to move beyond the power struggle with children, and began to use more positive and effective methods of behavior management in the home. While not all ideas will be able to be utilized in my personal home, most have a good base and can be tweaked or used by some parents.
Overall, this book was a good and quick read, that really allowed me to understand and change some of the ways that I parent my child, for the better.

Excellent, practical, doable book that helps you with the why behind the action while reading easily so tired, overwhelm parents can still process and engage with the material. Easily executable. ( )

If you read 10 different books on parenting, you find 10 different so-called prefect methods to raising children. The approaches are endless...
I like to read a wide variety of parenting books and try their ideas/suggestions, adding only bits and pieces of each to my parenting toolbox.

The same goes for this book. I've seen a good majority of this book's content in other books...very little new information was presented...but some of the content was presented in a different manner which made it click with me or with a slight "tweak" that seemed to make more sense than the other 100 times I've come across the same information.

Lots of good common sense information you've probably seen before---a good refresher for seasoned parents and a good start for new ones.
Overall a pretty solid book. ( )

A clearly articulated book introducing basic concepts of positive parenting. The examples were often overly simplified with a repeated focus on the traditional mother role. This would probably work better in print than as an audiobook to allow the reader to flip through to relevant sections rather than listening from beginning to end.

From Power Struggles to Peace
By Nicole Voronina
*****
An instructive book for effective positive parenting!

Author Nicole Voronina jumps right into the fray by describing why reward and punishment systems do not work with children. What else is there, one might ask! What actions result in the changes in behavior you desire as opposed to actions that lead a child to believe that a behavior is only worthwhile if associated with a bribe (reward) or avoiding emotional or physical harm (punishment)?

Nicole Voronina moves the focus from “over-powering” your children to “empowering” them as the way to help children gain a sense of their individual worth and the abilities to live responsibly and happily, and to bond in trusting relationships.

The author provides specific examples to aid the reader in understanding the principles underlying poor behavior and those leading to better behavior and respectful relationships.

I found Ms. Voronina’s descriptions of behaviors of what not to worry about at various developmental stages very beneficial. Another key point I never thought about was that we need to focus on our own positive attributes so our children do the same! The author provides an outstanding description of “quality time” and its #1 importance. I learned about “Time-in” and how to use that rather than a “Time-out.” I learned from the sections on the power of “Do Commands” and “Things NOT to Say to Your Kids.”

This is a very engaging, and often humorous, book that builds well from the initial look at the ways children act out and why to a wide range of suggested actions and ideas for better long-term outcomes in the parent-child relationship and fostering resilient, confident, caring and responsible adults.
