A funny folktale about what people value. In this simple story kids can understand that the Cats were far more valuable than any other treasure.

I liked this story. I also likes the art that went along with it; it was very colorful. I really liked the moral implications this story was trying to tell.

An interesting story about a merchant who was lucky enough to get a full chest of precious stones for two cats. But when another jealous merchant brought a full ship of the most exquisite paintings, fabrics and sculptures, he received a kitty for it all. One men's treasure might not mean anything for another man. ( )

This book is a great folk tale on the dangers of greed and the assumption of the value of things. The rich colors in the illustrations are beautiful, and the interesting placement of text on the first page and the map helps to draw kids in. It is very simply told, but is very clear it's message.

This book is an Italian folktale, and I think it's a great example of cultural differences. To the king, a chest full of jewels was nothing to him, but a kitten was priceless.
