It's a bit difficult to see the meaning of the book, but I think it is important for those who like graphic novels. I interpret it to really be about art and the artist's journey. That is partially the beauty of this book, you may interpret it however you'd like.

Also, for anyone interest in short reads- I read this on in less than an hour! (

Beautiful, political in a Communist-before-we-found-out-that-Stalin-sucks way, and haunting. Fantastic. Took my first tattoo from this book. (

While I could mostly follow the story without any words, there were a couple of places where Ward makes allusions to common story tropes (like the Faust legend) but then doesn't follow up on them in a predicable way, which confused me. I'm not sure a wordless genre is meant for subtle nuance, or if it is, I'm the wrong audience. (

This re-issue of the 1929 original book Gods’ Man maintains all the originals power of imagery. Done all in woodcut prints only (no text) it tells the story of a man’s road to redemption completely (
