"In more than seven hundred lively short entries and two hundred photographs, fact maven David Wallechinsky captures the century's most intriguing people, events, and discoveries - and the oddest, most unusual sidelights, including large animals discovered in the twentieth century, milestones in computer history, people made famous by their death, sects and cults, human behavior experiments, food firsts, crimes of the twentieth century, people with strange powers, the original profession of 16 Nazi leaders, people who never were - yet live today and many more."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. I do need to question why this book on the 20th century was released in 1996, which, to my (admittedly poor) knowledge, is still a handful of years short of the end of the 20th Century. Presumably the Wallechinsky/Wallace descendants will include these lost years in their review of the 21st Century. ( )
