This book follows Cap, a 13-year-old hippie, that grew up on a commune, in his transition from homeschool too junior high. There are ups and downs in his story and helps to show that we are all different and special. This book would be good for older grade school and middle school students, as a personal reading or reading assignment book. Cap has been raised by his grandmother - an old school hippie - on a mostly self-sustaining farm, and he's been home schooled there by her. He meditates, he works on the farm, he studies, and he's happy. Then she has an accident and he is forced to enter mainstream American society. He's in a house, with a family, and goes to a public school. It seems likely that he'll be tortured for his hair, his clothes, and not having a clue about anything that is normal for most kids. That almost happens, but not quite. Like most Gordon Korman books, it's oversimplified but it's fun to read. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Homeschooled by his hippie grandmother, Capricorn (Cap) Anderson has never watched television, tasted a pizza, or even heard of a wedgie. But when his grandmother lands in the hospital, Cap is forced to move in with a guidance counselor and attend the local middle school. While Cap knows a lot about tie-dyeing and Zen Buddhism, no education could prepare him for the politics of public school. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
