This book goes into great detail about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. The book discusses what happens right before and after his death. Students would find it useful when studying about Lincoln or if doing a project on him. ( ) The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln by Robert Jakoubek provides an informational and interesting account of the events leading up to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. The book begins by discussing Lincoln's presidency and some details of the Civil War, along with the months leading up to its conclusion. This informational book is also interesting in that it goes into detail about John Wilkes Booth's conspiracy plans many months before the assassination. It describes his detailed kidnapping plot and highlights co-conspirators, which many children may not know about. The book goes into detail why Booth wanted to kidnap and then murder the President, and describes what happened in the aftermath of the assassination, such as Booth and his conspirators' capture and the presidential succession of Andrew Johnson. The book is written clearly and in a suspenseful manner. It also includes many original photographs of the time, which aid the reader in visualizing the people that were involved in these events. As a teacher, I recommend implementing this book as additional reading when discussing the Civil War or the presidency of Abraham Lincoln. It provides a comprehensive overview of the events leading up to the assassination, as well as Booth's initial plan of kidnapping the President for ransom, which many students may not know. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
