I consider this strip to be fairly overrated, certainly not deserving of the accolades it's gotten over the years. The stories (at this stage, at least) are repetitious and often unbelievable, the dialogue often stilted, and the artwork is probably among the most amateurish of the major strips of the time. It does improve as he goes along, though. Also, Dick Tracy is not quite the groundbreaker the editors make it out to be; I know of a few earlier adventure strips that seem to have influenced Mr. Gould. Still, the series is a guilty pleasure, and I find myself intrigued by the developing relationship between Tracy and Junior. Tess, on the other hand, is a bit of a downer.
