Little is written about estate planning in regards to "legacy" properties; usually a vacation home or a family farm (with acreage). Huge schisms can occur when a single heir wishes to cash out of their share of this type of property, while other heirs wish to keep it in the family. What usually results is a court-ordered mandate to sell the property, often causing rifts that can permanently damage family relationships. I am certainly not educated in estate law, but it certainly seems there must be a way to prevent both the dissolution of both property and relationships. The author presents ways in which those might be avoided. This is a must read for those people wishing for property AND relationships to remain intact. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Cynicism aside about the profit motives, this really does lay out the problems with trying to establish a family cottage once the founding generation has died. Anyone who is, or expects to be, in that situation absolutely, positively should read this...at least Chapters 9 and 10. It's likely to be of little interest to anyone not in those categories. (
