Amanda is nervous about going to her first day of school but her and her friends soon realize that everybody wants to help them and encourage them to grow. Best for 3-5 year olds. ( ) The theme of this book is that learning can be fun and that journeys of a thousand miles start with a single step. At first, Amanda Pig and her friends are nervous about starting first grade, but they find that most kids, teachers, and the principal are eager to help them get settled. When Amanda Pig gets discouraged that she cannot yet read, her teacher encourages her to keep trying and keep learning new words one at a time. Finally, Amanda Pig succeeds in reading a whole book all by herself! This book could be used in the classroom during the first few days of a new school year to reassure children that fears about the first day in a new classroom are normal. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
