You can get a standard pattern that fits your doll, and then redraft the ones in the book based on that. American Girls, for example, have football player shoulders. My daughter never made doll clothes; she would use the ones I made for her dolls to dress my cat. (She was a very tolerant cat.) The styles are all 100 years old if you are interested in authenticity.
