Based on the old spiritual written by African American pianist and composer, Margaret Bonds, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands". New lyrics, first and last use "we". In the middle "he" and "she" and many natural elements - and towns and cities. CD included and score included. Song is followed by information on each element and ways to protect each one. followed by "Ways to Reduce Global Warming".

In this sing along book, we get to see various choruses and version of the famous song, "He's Got the Whole World." There is sheet music in the back of the book with descriptions of the different plants, animals, and geographic features we are introduced to. Christopher Corr is the illustrator and he does a beautiful job at capturing the upbeat, and colorful, mood of the book/lyrics.

I got a chance to read this book to my niece, and she really loved being able to follow along to the words as a sang. The illustrations also helped her understand because the different pictures went with the words we were reading. When we were done reading, she wanted to go back and look at the pretty pictures. That is what made me want to find more books illustrated by Christopher Corr. This book introduced my niece to the natural features of the earth, and I can imagine that would be the case for students within the classroom. I'm a huge fan of Corr's artistic style, and so is my niece. ( )
