Review: This book is an example of historical fiction. It is a narrative that presents a true depiction of an immigrant families' life set back in the early 1900's. There are difficulties such as having no work and no money when they moved that people can relate to. It shows how life was hard and sometimes disappointing when peers made fun of the children who were picking up junk. The themes of this book however are strong such as family and working hard to make something of yourself. The reader is able to learn about a different life style back years ago and the book incorporates the views and things of that time in history and we are able to relate easily to the characters.
