EUAB6NNF I love that this book is an informational early chapter book! Because it is about a viking explorer, the text content is interesting and intriguing to the reader. Furthermore, the inclusion of beautiful illustrations helps to keep the reader engaged. This book tells the story of Leif Eriksson's life in a way that is approachable for young readers, and information-rich enough for students who want to do more in-depth research. INFORMATIONAL: The purpose of this book is to tell the true life story of Leif Eriksson, and it does so through including dates, facts, and true stories. All of the information in this book is true and about a real historical figure. USE: This would be a great book to use to help students move from fiction chapter books to nonfiction chapter books. The adventures Leif has would keep kids interested, even though the book contains no elements of fantasy. This book could also be used when talking about world history, since Leif was an explorer and discovered previously unheard of lands. As a young man growing up in Greenland, Leif Ericsson had heard stories about a land to the west across the Atlantic Ocean. One day, he gathered a crew and set off to explore the land himself. He landed at three different places, finally settling at "Vinland", now Newfoundland, Canada, for the winter. When he returned home, he became a hero, and inspired many other Vikings to explore the new world. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
