As the nation recovers from the Civil War, Sky and Rebekah Winslow's wayward son Mark is slowly making his way north through Texas after his release from a Mexican prison. Book 11 of 40 Lola helps Mark Winslow escape jail. We watch them as strangers working together to get to safety. Once they arrive in Omaha, they split up and we follow Lola and her search for her birth father. Lola and Mark keep bumping into one another. The book says Mark went to West Point. I thought book 8 “The Last Confederate” said Mark’s cousin Lowell Winslow attended West Point. Mark and Lowell met at the end of book 8 when both men we ranking officers on opposing sides of the civil war. I’ll have to go back and read it again. ( )
I enjoyed this story, there were several men involved with women (although this was set during the building of the transcontinental railroad & there weren't supposed to be many women available), but it wasn't evident until the end who would end up marrying whom!
