I am uncomfortable with the premise of this work: That Jews have somehow bred themselves through the ages to be smarter than average, more risk averse than average, and even to have certain sorts of intelligence in preference over others. The question I cannot answer to my own satisfaction: is the author of this an Anti-Semite? I am inclined to say "no," which means that this work does rise to the level of being not utter rubbish, and yet I still am not quite sure. The author also seemingly is acting more as an advocate than social scientist at various points, as in ignoring the extremely high rates of the marriage outside their faith over the past 30 years, quoting from the Bible but ignoring where Moses marries someone who was likely a gentile. But, on balance it sure looks like he's done his historical research. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

A study of Judaism from an evolutionary perspective. The author argues that Judaism has grown with an evolutionary strategy characterised by endogamy, resistance to genetic and cultural assimilation, sacrifice between Jews and eugenic practices aimed at high intelligence.
