The book is about mice who have 6 Popsicle sticks and form different things with them. The language uses a repetitive theme that makes it easy for young children to read along with an adult who may be reading the book to them. For example, some of the text that is spread out along a few pages reads, "6 sticks.", "6 sticks.", "6 sticks make 6 flags.", "6 sticks make 6 whiskers.". Each sentence starts with the words, "6 sticks" so it would be easy for a young children to see the pattern and read along. The next thing that I really like are the illustrations. The illustrations depict 2 mice building/creating objects with 6 Popsicle sticks. They look as if they are illustrated using construction paper and this creates an arts and crafts sort of them that I think children would really enjoy. The final thing that I like about this book is how the message king of centers around an informational lesson. The book uses the 6 sticks to create different things and illustrations why certain things can only use a certain amount of sticks. For example, the book says, "6 sticks make 3 T's." then then illustrates how only 6 sticks can make 3 T's. Another example would be, "6 sticks make 3 pairs of skies." (with an illustration of 3 skies being made). Overall, this is a cute fun book for young children first getting introduced to reading. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
