She played an extremely important part in the history of Ballet and became a significant role model for other dancers to look up to. Anna was able to bring the stunning art of Ballet to cities around the world all while looking graceful and effortless in a pair of pointe shoes. After reading this Biography I feel I have learned a lot from Anna Pavlova. Not just about her and the history of Ballet but also important life lessons. I now have a much better understanding as to how and why certain artist think the way they do about their art. One quote that Anna said that has really stuck with me was “when there is not heart there is no art”. Being a dancer myself it becomes very easy to loose sight of this and become focused only on technique. However after reading this book I now understand the necessity of having heart within art. Five important facts I learned from this book about Anna Pavlova were that she was born and raised in Russia and she also spoke fluent french for most of her life. She was able to fund, run, perform and do charity work in her own ballet company at a very young age. She owned many pets including two swans that she would talk to and spend most of her time with. Many people notice that this seemed to circle back to her death at age 49 days before performing The Dying Swan. The book itself appears to be extremely accurate in their facts. The organization of this specific biography travels from Anna’s early childhood to her death in a seamless fashion. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
