This book is very good to introduce the duties of the firefighters to chidren. The pictures are true to life. The book explain a typical day at the station such as the kitchen, dispatcher area, training room, and sleeping quarter. The children learns who works at a fire station, the vechiles they drive, and the tools they use to help them prevent and fight fires.
The book is excellent and informational to teach children about firefighter, their duties, and how important firefighters are to our town/community.
Extended Activity: I had read this book every school year to introduce fire prevent, firefighters, their duties, trucks and equipment, and to prevent or calm down any fears that a child may have. Along with this book, I schedule either a visit to our local fire station or have the Fire Department come to the school, so that my children can have hands on experiences in seeing, touching real life equipment, and most of all learn "How Not To Burn", that firefighters are our friend and protector.
