520 A former U.S. Senator and Georgia Governor, Zell Miller identifies a wide range of issues where a shortage of decency is threatening the very heart of America: the disconnected Washington elite; the decline of traditional Christian values; the outdated and unfair federal tax code; the irresponsibility of the liberal media; the lack of decent role models in sports and music. Risking friendships and a lifetime as a party leader, Miller speaks candidly about the sense of duty that led him to attack his own party and deliver a keynote speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention. This sense of decency in the face of hostility, he believes, is desperately needed at the heart of American culture. -Dust jacket.… (meer)

Zell Miller a former U.S. senator from Georgia laments the lack of moral values in America and urges returning to a basic sense of duty. He describes supporting President W. Bush and takes on cultural issues. And over all I have to say he is right on target.

Miller writes in the preface, "There have been ten generations of Americans since this nation was founded.... Each left this nation in a little better condition than they had inherited it from their parents. This is the first generation at risk of doing the opposite." And this is a true statement. What he tries to do in this book is explain his view on how this has happened.

Many believe that he is attacking his own party, the Democrats. But in order for our country to be in the shape we are in is the fault of all our political leaders, not just one. All in D.C. have allowed the high standards the U.S.A. stood for to decline. Our elected officials are more concerned with re-election instead of the good of the people.

Zell Miller's belief that we have failed to acknowledge and discipline ourselves with the spiritual truths that have made us great for these two hundred years; faith, family, country and values. And I have to agree with him. Let us hope it is not too late for American citizens to wake up to our plight. ( )

Wonder what has happened to Zell? Tired of this mode of political rhetoric. ( )
