I loved how it gave examples and had good drawings, but also tried to get the students involved in roman numerals. This book was very informative even to me who has always had trouble understanding roman numerals. ( ) I wish this book had a story line because while the straight up facts of Roman numerals are informative, the book is rather hard to follow along because it is just fact after fact of Roman numerals thrown at you. I do feel that this book is intended for younger children and if it had a compelling story, it could easily keep young children's attentions but without a story line, it barely kept my attention. The positive that I see in this book is that an example of using coins to stand for the Roman numerals is an excellent idea for children to use to become familiar with the concept of Roman numerals. Fun with Roman Numerals by Davis A. Adler is about the concept of roman numerals, where it originated from, and where they are used today. We learn that there are only 7 number symbols in Roman numerals. We learn what each symbol represents and the different ways the number can be uses such as 2, or 20, or 200! The 2 all symbolizes a different number, but the same Roman numeral is used in the beginning. Roman numerals can be a hard concept for some people, but this book gets the job done and gives plenty of examples. This fun book, is not only beneficial for young students who are learning numbers, it is also beneficial for me a 31 years old person. Roman numbers all everywhere but i just found out what do they really mean. The illustrations are very engaging for young readers. This book will great to use in a math class. Also it will be great to use in a social study class as well. Roman Numerals are all over the world. They are on clocks, in books, and they are even on buildings. But what do Roman Numerals actually mean and how do we use them? This is a super cute story that gives us insight on how to go about learning roman numerals. It also explains what the difference is between the Roman numeral number system and the Arabic numerals, which is the newest number system that we all are familiar with using. I really liked how the illustrations are very colorful and demonstrate what is being explained in the text in a way that is easy to understand. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
