This is an illustrated history of the Santa Fe Trail and a significant cottonwood tree. A good friend loaned it me after telling it had been his all time favorite book as a young reader. ( ) I purchased this for my four year old son, who thoroughly enjoyed Paddle-to-the-Sea, because the setting is practically in our backyard. Both he and his sister have enjoyed this book a few chapters at a time (chapters are a page long, with pictures for each chapter). I am surprised that the book has held their attention for so long, and I'm fascinated how many recurring concepts they have identified, like the great lakes, St. Louis, the introduction of horses from Spain, Conestoga wagons, and so on. I would definitely recommend this book, along with other Holling books. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
