Leroy and the clock was not the most interesting book, and does not feel like it would appeal to many kids. Although it does show a heartwarming moment when Leroy decides to keep the clock working, because he realizes how important and how much his grandfather likes it. Not only that even how much he uses it to decide when to do things. The entire store was about Leroy wanting that clock to be quiet because it was to loud and annoyed him. ( )

This book tells a fun, loving story of a grandfather and his grandson. This is the first time Leroy has stayed alone with his grandfather and things were very different. He had an old clock that went off every hour, reminding Grandfather what he had to do. Leroy could not sleep and did not understand why the clock made so much noise. When it stops, he realizes what it means to his grandfather and decides it should still go off. There are many things I like about this book but two of them are: the showing of how times have changed with a wind up, loud clock and small, quiet ones with numbers, and the relationship between the two. Ad I was reading I could tell they loved each other very much and shared a strong bond. Their relationship is similar to the one that I have with my grandparents. This book was a nice, heartwarming book. Juanita Havill is amazing! ( )

A little boy stays with his grandfather during vacation. There is a big clock that bongs every hour. He was annoyed by it and wished it would stop making so much noise. Later he found the importance of the bongs and learned to accept it.

I didn't like this book. I don't think it will interest anyone and it is boring. Who want to read about a clock that doesn't do anything but bong on the hour?

I could only use this book at storytime, but it wouldn't be high on my to-read list.
