A set of essays by women about their experiences of motherhood, seen through a filter of feminism. Rather dated (published in 1989), there is a lot of rather po-faced reflecting and some important points about the eurocentricity of feminism at that time, discussions which have moved away now (I'm not going to get into a discussion of whether feminism exists or not nowadays!). Anyway, the women's experiences go through a range of backgrounds: multi-child, two-parent families, adoptive mothers, a woman whose woman partner has a baby, a woman whose baby died ... all have a story to tell and it's interesting to see them exploring their lives, feminism and relationships with both people and theories.
