Fortunately it was something of a novelty gift for the funny, which job it served well enough, but I'm afraid I can't really rate it as a cookbook, much less specifically one for beer lovers. The "more than 400" recipes, while I'm sure they probably work (although some of the drink recipes, frankly, strike me as quite repulsive) pretty much reveal this when they just call for "beer".
And, well, as beer-lovers know, there are many kinds of beer just like there are many kinds of wine, and I find it as unlikely that you can use generic "beer" in a recipe as you can use generic "wine" and expect a good result. A stout is not an IPA is not a wheat beer, etc., and the results will differ accordingly.
The introduction and the collection of quotations on the subject of beer scattered throughout the book are fun, sure, but I recommend it for novelty value only, not as a useful cookbook.
