I liked the tie ins with his family - both how he dealt with the loss of his parents with football and how that helped him counsel players like Tyree who lost a parent during the season. I also liked the integration of his children & grandchildren - how his coaching affected them. Not only the highs - but also the lows of wondering where the next job and paycheck would come from. Something that followed him from Syracuse as far as Jacksonville - and the threats of that with the Giants.
I found his insight into the team to be strong - moreso than I expected. He writes well for a non writer and the information was conveyed as a story teller even when it was facts like a daily schedule. I like the added info on Gadson - and the relationships in his coaching tree as much as Parcells.
A wonderful read - one of the best football ones I've read or sports in general. ( )
