Rain, the storyteller, is a young girl that must move back to her mother’s childhood home when her parents divorce. It is located out in the country and far from everything that is familiar. There isn’t even have a pizza parlor in town.
Rain makes friends with her next door neighbor, Daniel, who just happens to be a fan of Star Trek or better known as a Trekkie.
This may be an enjoyable read aloud for a teacher particularly if they are also a “Trek Fan.” It has a lot of humor but a serious story line that allows kids to see that everything that happens in life my not be as bad as it first seems. ( )
