This book is about a frog who spends every day joyfully working at the zoo. Although this book is fictional, there are a lot of instances when the author includes facts about the reptiles in the zoo. This would be a good book to pair with an early nonfiction book about frogs and other amphibians/reptiles. ( ) I loved this! Tells the story of a frog and his journey to being a "working frog" on display at the zoo. There are a lot of details about the process of putting him on display, including capture, exams, diet, and reasons why an animal might be replaced. There are so many areas for discussion and discovery, and this book would pair nicely with a section in science on zoos or amphibians. Winston the bullfrog gets caught in a net and taken to the nearest zoo. He is then put in a holding tank to eventually be put on display. Winston loved the zoo and was happy to be there, however, I did not like this book because a lot of animals in zoos are mistreated and should not be there. A polar bear in tropic weather can not possibly survive to his normal lifespan. It is a good book for kids, I just do not approve of the theme. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
