I generally really like Kirkman's work but this was not one of my favourites. Eric O'Grady certainly deserves to be called irredeemable. The idea behind the book was to have a hero who was obviously not heroic. While it does make for an original read, it's really hard to care about the main character. The problem is not that O'Grady isn't a good guy, good comics about villains have been written, it's mostly that he is your average jerk and why should anyone be interested in him. At least, some of the other characters are interesting and some of the jokes are somewhat funny. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Irredeemable Ant-Man (1-2)
When a low-level SHIELD agent gets a hold of Hank Pym's new Ant-Man suit, you know the Marvel Universe is in trouble. He's not concerned with saving the world or helping others - he's concerned with getting through the day and getting a leg up on life. He's Ant-Man, a new 'hero' for the modern world. So, taking this on its own merits, we're dragged through the moral and creeptastic sludge that is Eric O'Grady. Only the super tiny smudge of hope waits for us at the end of this set. He may not be killing people left and right or able to orchestrate grand evil events while appearing to be good, but he's no less an antihero. Really, he's just filth that's pretty good at lying.
Let's face it, if there were any better choices, ANYONE would have been a better choice as Ant-Man.
Unfortunately for us, Earth is extremely short on good superheroes. ( )
