IN this story, a little girl’s grandpa must move in because he can no longer take care of himself. The little girl doesn’t really understand why, but through the music that he plays on the piano they begin to bond and become very close. What makes this story so good is that is shows how Alzheimer’s works and how a young child might slowly start to see the changes and begin to understand. The illustrations are very realistic and fits in well with the text and themes of the story. I would recommend this book to children ages 4-8. This story was found at the Pierce College Library. Older children (4-6th grade level) Grandpa moves in. He loves to play piano and each family member takes responsibility for him each day. The granddaughter is very close and cares for him deeply. They sing songs, garden, etc. The disease gradually worsens and Grandpa must move to an assisted living house. He can still play piano there. The grandfather/ granddaughter relationship is very sweet. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Although Alzheimer's disease makes it difficult for Callie's grandfather to remember things, his family keeps him occupied, and Callie's special task is to help him enjoy playing the piano and singing favorite songs. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
