It's all relative in this story of a bunch of jungle animals who are scared of "big bro." Mouse says he's as big as his outstretched arms, and as that message carries through the jungle, each animal's outstretched arms get wider and wider. When mouse's brother shows up, yeah, he's big....for a MOUSE. Fun, with a repeating pattern and bright splashy pictures.

“Watch out! Big Bro’s Coming” by Jez Alborough is a wonderful tale of a mouse who franticly tells a frog that big bro is coming. He also explaining how rough, tough and big he is. The frog then runs scared and tells a parrot who the then tells a monkey. The tale continues to grow bigger as it is passed on to other animals in the jungle until big bro finally arrives.

This story is fun as it flows fairly quickly along with a easy flowing rhythmic text. The illustrations are full of wonderful bright colors as they enhance and follow along with the text. This story provides suspense with every page that is turned. It will have the children wondering how big, how strong, and how scary is big bro. The recommended age group for this picture book is 0 to 8 years old. Although with the building of suspense it is not frightening with its bright cheery colors and adorable non-threatening animals. ( )

A cute read aloud with a little bit of scarey suspence. Would make an excellent read-a-loud for early elementary especially for the boys in the group. ( )
