What happened to Boo’s weird muscle problem? Too many loose threads. ( )

Summary: Graphic novel about a ghost named Johnny Boo who eats Ice cream to stay strong and have muscles. One day a monster comes along as Johnny realizes his muscles are saggy and the monster tells Johnny to eat happy apples and he will become string so Johnny goes looking for apples and finally finds a huge one but cant reach it so his little friend had to fly up and get it for him and knocks it down on the big monsters head. In the end Johnny and his friends each get a piece of the apple.

Personal Reaction: Good book about friends helping each other and how eating healthy helps you to be strong and feel better.

Classroom Extension:
1. We can eat apples while making the ghosts or monster from the story around Halloween and hang the monsters and ghosts around the classroom.

Summary: This book is about two ghosts, Johnny Boo and Squiggle. Johnny Boo ate a lot of ice cream and now he has a floppy muscle. An ice cream monster tells Johnny Boo he needs to eat Happy Apples to get strong muscles, so Johnny Boo goes to find Happy Apples. He finds a huge Happy Apple and it falls on top of the ice cream monster’s head. Johnny Boo breaks the apple into three large pieces, but the ice cream monster get hungry and eats Johnny Boo and Squiggle. In the end, the ice cream monster burps them up.
Personal Reaction: This was my first graphic novel to read. I enjoyed it very much. It was very comical and imaginative. I read the story to neighbor’s daughter, and she loved it.
Classroom Extension: 1. In the classroom, the teacher could read the story, and then talk about how healthy foods make you have strong muscles. 2. The teacher could have the students draw what kind of food monster they would be in the story.
