This biography of Lemony Snicket/Daniel Handler is a part of the "Who Wrote That?" series which does biographies of popular authors. Not only is Lemony Snicket the pseudonym Daniel Handler chose to use for his pen name but he is a character in his own right. In 2002, Handler wrote Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography. It took Handler six years to write his first novel, The Basic Eight, which is actually an adult novel with teenage characters. Snicket's/Handler's huge success came very unexpectedly from A Series of Unfortunate Events. For a time, the series was banned in Decatur, Georgia. I found this book to very detailed and informative. It is lengthy so I would not recommend it for readers with a short attention span. The snippets of quotes from interviews gives the book a more personal feel. This could easily be mistaken for an autobiography because of how similar Abrams and Handler sound/read. It would be a good tool for an author study, as far as learning about the writer's history.
