Sur 20 ans, l'amitié indéféctible entre 2 hommes adultes nous est comptée : leurs carrières (peintres et enseignant), leurs couples heureux ou malheureux, leurs fils respectifs (dont l'un meurt précocement et l'autre devient délinquant) ... Siri Hustvedt écrit magnifiquement bien sur l'art , les tableaux (oeuvres fictifs des héros) vivent littéralement sous nos yeux, ajoutant au charme d'une écriture fine qui ne tombe pour autant jamais dans la psychologique de comptoir ... j'ai adoré et je conseille chaudement ce livre !
