Sussex, 2003. When a beautiful blonde girl is found half-drowned on a beach, she has no memory of who she is or what horrors have left her there. But an article about her in a Brighton newspaper rings alarm bells for beautician Dale, who shows the police photographs of Lotte Wainright. The girls met working on a cruise ship and their friendship blossomed as they sailed the seas of South America, until Lotte fell under the sinister influence of an older American couple. To her regret, Dale hasn't seen Lotte since leaving the ship months earlier, but the girl on the beach - although badly bruised - is indeed her much missed friend. Their reunion only marks the beginning of a dangerous tidal wave of secrets, lies and nightmares. Where has Lotte been? Who is the man who seems to want to kill her? And what has become of the baby she's recently given birth to? Dale and Lotte must dig deep and find the strength to hold on against the odds if they are to rebuild their friendship and survive Lotte's stolen - and deadly - past.… (meer)

This book was very easy to read. I found myself just casually able to place myself in the story. It required no real thought. Saying that I did enjoy the story line to an extent. The characters could have been developed a little more.
A book for when you just want something easy to read. ( )

A mysterious body is washed up on the beach, battered but still alive just, begins a story of cruelty - and great friendships.
The friends who recognise the face of the girl do all they can to help her work out what has happened to her, and to deal with the consequences. But it seems her tormentor has not finished with her, or them, yet.
You just have to keep reading to find out what has happened to Lotte - and what will happen to her. A really good story, though heart wrenching at times. ( )

I love Lesley Pearse's novels, and know that when I start one I will be getting a good read, and that's what I got with Stolen. It's the story of Lotte Wainwright, who is found half-drowned on a beach, having lost her memory. The book then follows her experiences in regaining her memory and in so doing she remembers the horrific events that led to her discovery on the beach.

This is a very easy to read book, and one which I felt compelled to pick up and read at any available opportunity. I will say that I don't think it's as good as her other work, and I do think she does historical novels much better than modern day stories, but I still think it warrants five stars for the page turning effect of the book.
