In Lieutenant Tibbetts,better known as Bones we have one of the lesser known comic characters of fiction.
He inhabits a position under District Commissioner Sanders in a large area of Colonial Africa which is under British rule.
In this book in the Sanders series,the Commissioner plays little part while those of Captain Hamilton and his subordinate,Bones are the main characters. Indeed the mis-adventures and mis-understandings of 'silly-ass' Bones are the basis of the whole book.
As with the other volumes in this entertaining series,it is important to remember that at the time of writing, i.e. 1915,things and views expressed here,would not be acceptable today and should be read in the spirit of those times. ( )
