This book was a little disappointing to me, I must admit. As a long time fan of the Madeline series, I was very surprised by it's rhyme and rhythm despite the words being formatted in a poetic way. The story itself is touching: an unlikely friendship between a twisted pine tree in danger of being destroyed and a protective stag. Still, the wording just seemed a little mature for younger audiences. ( )
