This manga is my absolute favorite one, and I LOVE the anime as well.
Volume 4 is funny, adventurous and touching.
Tomoe is definitely my favorite but I also really like Mizuki. Definitely recommend this manga.

Oh this is a fun one.
I've read several volumes, as I recall.
Never made it to the end.

Might revisit at a later date.

That was such a great volume of Kamisama Kiss. Like, wow. I'm really blown away by what happened and how strongly I feel about the plot right now. Also I really really love Nanami more than ever now! And everyone else!

I have so many feelings about this volume. Just . . . so many feelings. I might expound on them this weekend, perhaps.

Kamisama Kiss dedicating an entire story arc to Nanami going back in time to save Tomoe from an age-old curse shouldn't work as much as it does - but it does. She's totally out of her element in an era without cell phones, public transporation or modern sanitation but she is ever the spunky, take charge heroine this series needs.

My full review of KAMISAMA KISS volume 15 is up at my blog.

More of a 3.5 than a 3. I'm rounding down because this current time travel arc keeps loudly broadcasting all of its upcoming plot twists, so some of the surprise is gone. But I love Nanami going all Desmond Hume to save Tomoe from certain death, so there's that!

This volume made me super duper happy for so many reasons. Nanami! Back story for Kurama, everyone's favorite tengu turned idol! Nanami grows further into her kami abilities! Tomoe is, well, Tomoe, but he is getting to deal with his own feelings for his human kami/possible crush! I am so excited at the direction this series is going in.

BEST KAMISAMA KISS VOLUME YET. And it doesn't even focus on Nanami's feelings for Tomoe! It's pretty much all about Nanami growing into her abilities as a kami and proving to herself and others that she is worthy of the role. Plus, there's new character Kayako who, like Nanami, is a human kami but couldn't be more different in attitude and ability. But Kayako is actually a pretty great, nuanced character and I hope she returns in future volumes.

Some girls have all the best luck in the world - but not Nanami. Having been bullied by her classmates for being poor and left homeless by her gambling addict father who runs out on her and his skyrocketing debt, there's no way her life could get any worse. That is, until a kind looking man leads her into an unusual set up: becoming the tochigami for a rundown shrine populated by a trio of yokai, including a very arrogant fox-eared man who would rather drink and carouse than serve Nanami's will. What's a girl to do?

Series Info: This is the 4th volume in the Kamisama Kiss series. I borrowed this book from the library (it’s the last book in this series that my library carries).

Characters (4/5): I love Nanami and Tomoe, they are fun characters with a lot of depth and they are very entertaining to read about.

Story (4/5): I didn’t enjoy all the high school silliness at the beginning of the book. However, when they get to the beach and meet one of the ocean yokai, things really get interesting!

Setting (4/5): I continue to really enjoy that yokai exist in this world and enjoy how they blend with contemporary life. Aside from that this is pretty much a normal contemporary setting.

Writing/Drawing Style (4/5): The dialogue between characters is always funny in these books. The illustration was well done and easy to follow, it’s not as detailed as some, but still very solid work.

Summary (4/5): Overall, this was another fun read in the Kamisama Kiss series. As mentioned above this is the last volume in this series that my library carries, so if I want to keep reading it I will have to buy future volumes. While I enjoy this series (and think it is cute and funny) there are other manga series out there that I enjoy a lot more. Right now I am not planning on continuing this series.

This is the third volume in the Kamisama Kiss series and was a very fun read.

Nanami is determined to go to school but while there she rescues a white snake who in turn marks her arm. This means her and the snake are betrothed!!! When the snake kidnaps Nanami it’s up Tomoe to get her back. Things between Nanami and Tomoe have gotten a bit tense, will Nanami ever be able to balance both her temple duties and her high school education!

I have been enjoying this series quite a bit. It’s sweet and funny and entertaining. It’s well drawn and I love the dynamic between Nanami and Tomoe. The other shrine gods and yokai that we meet are also really intriguing.

Overall I enjoy this series and plan on continuing to read it. I would recommend if you like humorous urban fantasies with a bit of romantic tension in them.

This is the 2nd book in the Kamisama Kiss series. This continues to be a humorous and cute shoujo series, I am enjoying it a lot.

Nanami doesn’t want to miss out on her high school years, especially when a hot teen idol is rumored to be attending her school this year. Tomoe agrees to help her hide her divine mark so she can safely go to school. However, this teen idol is not what he at first appears to be and this little high school excursion could cost Nanami her temple.

The synopsis for this volume makes it seem pretty light and fluffy, and parts of it are. However, a lot happens in this volume including an angry neighboring god trying to take over Nanami’s temple. While there is a lot of humor in this series, there is also some interesting Japanese mythology and some serious story development.

This manga series is well drawn and I enjoy the characters a lot. The story and the humor make this really engaging and fun to read.

Overall I am continuing to really enjoy this series. I would recommend to those who enjoy lighter shoujo with a lot of humor and some Japanese mythology. I am liking this a lot and plan to continue with the series.

There are 25 volumes in the Kamisama Kiss series. This is a shojo manga series. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t like this...that it would be too girly and fluffy for me. However, I ended up really liking it a lot.

Nanami finds herself homeless when her dad takes off fleeing his debt collectors. She ends up helping a young man escape a dog and in return he offers her his house as lodging; he doesn’t use it and is looking for someone to take care of it. However, when Nanami arrives she finds out that the house is a temple and that she is its new keeper. She also finds out that there are certain Yokai there already who are supposed to help her keep up the temple. One of them happens to be a very cranky fox man, who is also very sexy.

This was a well drawn manga that was easy to follow and humorous. I loved that Yokai are in here and that Nanami gets to journey in between worlds. This was a very well balanced story that I really enjoyed.

Overall I liked this a lot and plan on continuing the series. I liked the story and the characters and really thought this was a lot of fun to read.

It has been such a long while since i read any manga but in a period in which I did I can still remember the huge disappointment that Kamisama Hajimemashita turned out to be.
I really liked the beginning of the story. The art is clean, the plot gripping, the characters interesting and the general pace of the narration and action just right.
The pity is that the whole thing had just so much potential to be a cut above the bulk of manga production.
The plot has a young stranded girl stepping temporarily in the position of a country diety of a remote mountain shrine aided only by small spirits and a belligerent fox demon, wrangled unwillingly in the position of guide and protector.
The potential that the author manages to waste after a promising beginning is immense.
Duties of a shrine god, encounters with japanese mythological figures, the struggle of a young girl filling a potentially perilous position without having any direction or clear instruction could have been all so interesting.
It seems to me that the author might have felt overwhelmed at the prospect of handling such a story or simply ran out of inspiration because all of a sudden we find our plucky protagonist who up to this point managed to negotiate and think herself cleverly out of sticky and dangerous situations (Yay) enrolled in high school and stuck in the midst of a love triangle - what?
Is the idea of someone operating outside the bounds of a public organised structure or stately mandated institution so alien to contemplate for too long for a japanese writer or reader? Could our girl protagonist not find a way to thrive without societies' frameworks and organised groups in which to exist? Could writing a character of that age outside of the banalities and restrictions of what passes as the literary tropes of everyday school life be inconcievable?

I started on this manga because I fell in love with the anime series, but it only animated a small portion of the story and I wanted to know more. The first volume introduces us to Naname and Tomoe. Naname is a young girl who finds herself homeless thanks to her father's debts and irresponsibility. When she meets an odd man hiding in a tree from a dog, he invites her to stay at his house after she saves him. Turns out, though, that Mikage's home is a neglected shrine, and he was the land god. Also, he transferred his job and powers to Naname when he kissed her on the forehead and she is now in charge of the shrine. She is a little freaked out by all of this, especially when she meets the will o' wisps who care for the shrine and the moody fox spirit that was Mikage's familiar. Naname comes to embrace her new role, however, and then all that is left to do is win over the sullen fox spirit, Tomoe. This volume was as sweet and delightful as its adapted anime show. I really like the naive but spunky Naname, and her clearly impending romance with Tomoe gave me all the feels. It even throws in some truly spooky supernatural action at times. I love this series, and am glad the English translations are available so I can continue reading it.

Nanami is put through a series of trials, both self-imposed and inflicted, and comes out a better Kami and a better person. She also begins to realize that her fantasies don't necessarily jibe with the things her heart knows instinctively.

There is fun irony in this issue, as so many typical roles are reversed. The wise become the ignorant and the ignorant become the wise. The harsh become the gentle and the gentle become fierce.

This volume was okay, but there was a slavery element to it that made it a bit discomfiting to read, especially since I'm assuming Nanami and Tomoe are going to fall in love at some point. It reminds me a little of the relationship between Inuyasha and Kagome in Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyasha series. I'm not entirely sure why Kamisama Kiss rubs me the wrong way when Inuyasha didn't.

At this point, there's very little indication that Tomoe likes Nanami. I'm not particularly enamored of Nanami yet, myself. I plan to continue this series, just to see if it gets better, but so far it hasn't really grabbed me.
