Laila Abou-Saif

Laila Abou-Saif, an Arab-American, spent almost all of her life in Egypt. She obtained a B.A. from the American University in Cairo, an M.A. in English from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Theater from the University of Illinois in Urbana. She has studied at Cambridge University, and toon meer taught and lectured at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, Harvard, UCLA, and Columbia University in New York. In 1984 she joined the theater department at Southern Connecticut State University and taught there through 1995. She was also employed for twelve years by the Ministry of Culture and Information in Cairo, becoming the first woman to achieve renown in Egypt as a theater directo toon minder
