Firefighter Fox by Jessica D. Adams
In this colorful children's book we find the toys sense someone is coming so they hide themselves back into the box where firefighter had left them. The bunny didn't make it back and time and the firefighter was going to take the bunny home to his daughters. The fox wonders will what will happen to the rest of them....
The paper the firefighter had caught was from the Underground Toy Society about a community day event. Love brightly colored stuffed animals and they need patience, they will all find a new home.
Other works by the author are listed, about the author and illustrator are included at the end. Offer of free coloring pages and about how you can volunteer at your local fire department.

The Underground Toy Society by Jessica D. Adams is a charming little book following toys who just want to be played with!

This book gave me Toy Story vibes. There are two dolls who want to be reunited and decide to help take care of toys. It's a sweet premise and works really well within the book. Add in the aspect of the underground toy society taking toys to loving homes so they are played with, and you have a real winner.

My positives:
1. This book thematically makes sense: you don't need a ton of toys but you do need to give love to the toys you have. It also showcases friendship and love in general. Educational books always make me pleased as a reader!
2. I haven't seen much of this premise out in the children's book world, so it was a lovely treat.
3. The book is obviously home made which makes it stand out. I am curious who drew the pictures that are used in this book. I know this aesthetic will be a negative for some people, but for reviewers like me I like seeing variation in the books I read. I can imagine children reading it and realizing they too could draw pictures for books and we might get them more interested in reading. It's all in the mind frame of the readers.
4. This book is simple and easy to read. It's not complicated and makes for a nice, smooth read.
5. The reason behind this book is super cute - Jessica kept her toys for her children. The adult readers will appreciate this fact way more than the kids.

My negatives:
1. I see the book is listed as 3-10 but I would almost argue some 3 year olds these days wouldn't have the patience to sit through this book. That being said, I know there are some wickedly smart 3 year olds who would love it. Keep in mind that this book is short, but has a paragraph on each page. Know your child! I would recommend age five to ten as the best age group.
2. The aesthetic for the pictures will be a negative for some readers. It isn't for me, but I wanted to include that 's' on negatives.

Overall, this was a charming little book that I think will be a perfect addition to your child's book shelf. Pick it up for the holidays (since I read this just before Christmas) and share your love of reading with your little ones!

Four out of five stars!

The Underground Toy Society series continues with a marvelous addition!

This time around, those pesky kids left Ellie the Elephant behind! But no worries faithful audience, the Underground Toy Society is going to come to the rescue!

My positives:
1. I love the opening picture of the book with two girls holding their stuffed animals and reading. It's utterly adorable and gives you a great feel for what this book is going to be: heartwarming.
2. The squirrel drawing. That's all. The squirrel itself is a positive. I think Chippy's cute.
3. This children's book is a little longer. It has paragraphs and a full story instead of the typical simple sentences with rhyming schemes.

My negatives:
1. As with the other books by Jessica, the aesthetic of children's drawings may not please all readers. It is by no means a negative for me, but I can see some readers not enjoying it.
2. How did the mole get a bow and a skirt? Did someone leave them behind and Mindy decided to wear them? I need to know. This is crucial. It is not explained anywhere in the book!
3. This book didn't have as much of a theme as the original did, but it's still a marvelous little story.

Overall, this is a cute book and I'd highly recommend picking it up! If you're looking for something different for your kids, then grab this unique book! The pictures are drawn by Jessica's kid, she's a self-published, indie author and it's just a magical little series!

Meeting Grandmom by Jessica D. Adams was a charming little book!

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as The Underground Toy Society. I think mainly because there were chapters for paragraphs when there didn't need to be. I would have loved some more pictures too because her daughter yet again was the illustrator.

The reflections about Grandmom (Jessica's Mother) was also beautiful. As somehow who has lost loved ones, I can relate very hard to this story. It made me a bit sad though... As loss typically does. Although, the book is positive and brings a lovely light to loss!

Three out of five stars!
