Anemone

Toivo is a brown bear and one day on one of his walks he comes across a half withered flower. The flower is desperately calling for help, as it's very cold, and offers to tell the bear a story in exchange for a bit of warmth. That's fine with Toivo and he carefully snuggles up to the tiny flower.
The flower tells how she was first just a seed and when she did grow big enough, with the help of wind, the river and rain she travelled and finally did put down roots where she is now.
But when her own seeds for the next generation of plants did grow a big bird came along and swallowed them all, except one. This last seed is her whole hope for her family to live on and she asks Toivo for help.
The bear thinks of his own family and that his son is also a part of him and agrees. He takes the tiny seed along and when he reaches the cave where he lives, his wife Theda has an idea. She plants the seed into the earth and now the bears wait all winter long until finally spring approaches.
But will the tiny flower's dream come true and the seet sprout into a beautiful flower, just like herself?

Lovely story which is enhanced with wonderfully bright and colourful illustrations which look like watercolours and young children will love them. The cover image doesn't do them really justice, they are much more beautiful than that.
The kids will learn how flowers grow from seeds and that plants live on in their next generations just as bears do with their cubs or we with our children.… (meer)
