This is a good treatment of the campaign and the battle. Mr. Armstrong (Good old Border name, that!), has produced a well mapped and clear account. The only vagueness, and this is not unusual in Medieval Military history, is the exact location of the actual fighting line. The scenario presented by Armstrong is quite believable however, and the rest of the book presents a wealth of material on the techniques, personnel, and chronology of the english-Scots conflicts for a ten year period.

An excellent handbook for the two campaigns. There are four bird's eye views of the battles covered, and five maps covering the maneuvers leading to and from the battles. the reader also gets coverage of the career of william Wallace, and the biography of the English hero, Marmaduke Thweng. sadly there is no actual plan of Stirling Castle at the time of the battles in question.
