Jane Avrich's stories have appeared in Harper's Magazine, Paris Review, Ploughshares, Story, and other journals and have been nominated for The Best American Short Stories. She is the recipient of two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities. She currently teaches English at Saint toon meer Ann's School in Brooklyn and lives in New York City toon minder

The Winter Without Milk: Stories door Jane Avrich
rabck from feistypom2love; Short stories. Varied topics and writing, some fantasy, some with a moral. I particularly liked The Banshee's Song, which has a bit of the mystical to it. In Trash Traders, the rhythm of the words starts slow, then increases to a frantic speed by the end, with the sentences just pulling you along. The census taker and MIss Carmichael's funeral are sad, lonely tales. This book now heading out in the A-Z bookbox.
