This book's strength is its depth and detail; its weakness, from our point of view, is that it's a US publication, and this is particularly significant when it's examining the areas of patent work, regulatory affairs and education. That aside, it's a book of substance; each chapter is supplemented with extended longitudinal case studies of people well-established in their careers. It covers communications, information science, patents, sales and marketing, business development, regulatory affairs, public policy, HR, safety, and more. And while the organisations referred to are American the personal attributes cited in each section are universal, so the discussion will be useful for students wherever they want to work.
