This is the story of 18-year-old Judy who is hoping to make a name for herself as a filmmaker. It was okay, but I found the relationship between Judy and her mentor, Maurice, highly implausible. He's twice her age, they meet sheltering on a stairwell in the rain. He entices her to come to New York and she does, but there is no sexual relationship. Even when he does "try something" he is easily dissuaded and reads poetry to her instead. Similarly, a woman befriends July and goes out of her way to help her for no apparent reason at all.

Judy spends time with an older, addicted man, she steals money without repercussions. She stays in a big house with two friends and no adult supervision in sight. This read like a teenaged fantasy of what if. I found the characters largely uninteresting and couldn't really get to care about any of them.… (meer)
