I was looking for a book with a magical element and stumbled across this one. It had a simple premise. A man whore who gets changed into an actual dog until he learns better. Not angsty, not just played for laughs. Clearly written and well plotted. I really liked the hero and believed in his journey. I liked the secondary characters, some of whom were animals.

If you’re looking for something a little different give this one a try.

The writing wasn't as engaging as this author's second book but overall I enjoyed it. I thought the ending was a bit abrupt.

"Bad Dog" by Obren Bokich

My Thoughts....

Now this was quite some fantasy read. I would imagine this one mounts right up there with some men who have cheated and have been thought of as mire dogs in one way or another. However, this 'Spanish witch' takes it to another level. Now, why was that? It looks like Jack and his friend Charlie have been 'womanizing' so much that someone was definitely fed up and what better way than to put a stop to it by turning them into ..well this is where I don't want to give too much away other than to say you must pick this one up for yourself because it had me smiling all the way through the read. I will say that this author really has a amagination in how the story was put together to give the reader quite one interesting read. In the end will Jack finally have a better view of how he wants his life after be meets the woman who had adopted him before he turned back to a ? Will they be able to get together for a HFN ending?

Thank you for the early read of 'Bad Dog' for my honest opinion.

I love a good chick-lit/contemporary romance, and when the Author Obren Bokich asked me to review his book I was totally intrigued!! First of all that it's written from a male perspective, and that after reading it, you couldn't tell it was written by a male, because it wasn't chavunistic in nature or degrading to women in anyway, shape, or form. I know that sounds like a stereotype, but I feel like a good chunk of Contemporary Romance/ Chick- Lit written by male authors tend to write women as air-headed, bimbos that are used primarily as sex objects.

That being said, that is totally not the case with this book, it's not filled with pointless sex scenes, and the female character Kat is far from an air-headed, bimbo. This book was just like the title suggested ( a modern-day fairytale) and if that's what your in the mood for, then that is what you will get from this book. I know my rating isn't that high, and that's only because at times I felt that the story dragged on a bit, and that the story was a bit predictable, but regardless, I still have this book on a shelf of books that I will one day re-read, because it was light-hearted and romantic, and real, and sometimes that's exactly what you want a book to be.

I look forward to seeing what's next from Obren Bokich because I did really enjoy his writing, and if you are a fan of contemporary romance or fairytales, then you'll enjoy this book.

Review:

"The Cinderella Blues" by Obren Bokich was a good read. The novel was indeed amusing and funny.... being a very heart warming fairytale. The main character was Kat who was a 'hopeless romantic.' It seems that everything that was to go right went very wrong for Kat. Kat was first involved with a guy (Marty...for eight years) that seemed to hardly pay any attention to her and now wanting to take a break ... later he then calls Kat and meets with her on her birthday and ask her if he can ask her best friend... Tina out! WHAT!

Now, Kat starts baking cookies, cupcakes.....a very interesting hobby that will be of benefit to her later...(read the book... you will see what I am talking about) and working herself to death..doing her job, helping Tina which is on her team and helping her boss... then another attraction that shows up...(her boss... Jason)...what's up with that? Will something come of this? After all he is very attractive. Jason has even showed interest however, on a planned business trip to Seattle that didn't go well and Kat realizes that Jason was not what she wanted.

The author had some really good characters in this storyline....Kat, Marty, Tina, Juanita, Rebecca, Jason, Joan Young, Aunt Ruth, John, Max and Cooper. Kat's friends were very nice and very supportive which really added in this storyline....I liked the balloons at work for Kat's birthday and then a lunch with friends. After Kat moves into her aunts place...the friends (Tina and Juanita)really step up and really help her clean up Kat's aunts home.

Then comes another guy into the picture...Cooper who is 'cute, smart and an artist' but with Kat having so much bad luck with men decides that she only wants to be friends with Cooper. Did Cooper want more? What happens to Kat?....Will she find true love? What secrets did Cooper have? What is the big secret that Kat's mother will not share with Kat? There is even a feel of a ghost....now I am sure you are asking...What was that about? Now this is where I say that you must pick up "The Cinderella Blues" novel and find out just what all of this is about. You will not be sorry.

I really enjoyed this good read where I did laughed often. "The Cinderella Blues" will put a smile on your face and will be enjoyed by many girlfriends. The ending was great and I would recommend "The Cinderella Blues" as a wonderful read.
