The easy-to-use reference offers very well organized content: Part One provides an overview, including principles of herbal treatment; Part Two contains practical clinical guides; and Part Three contains the monographs of 50 important therapeutic herbs: its materia medica. These monographs for each herb contain comprehensive reviews that provide clear scientific explanations for the actions of that herb, along with details of traditional uses of each plant, with scientific references. The therapeutics sections reflect traditional approaches to herbal medicine, once again with references to studies and trials.

This is an essential reference for holistic practitioners, and others interested in herbal medicine. Sadly, it is poorly bound and must be used with great care to prevent the book from falling apart. That's the reason I gave it four stars instead of five.… (meer)
