Sort of interesting but far too many Spanish colloquialisms used without translation so you sort of miss the inferences.. I guess if I was a teen or appreciated ghetto life more it would have been a better read.

Though I didn't read the edition indicated above--it was a 344-page paperback/softcover edition borrowed from my local library--I thought that Paul Theroux's 1975 travelogue debut was very interesting, at times hilarious and quite insightful. It might take a while to get through this one - my 12-year-old wants to listen to it also

Excellent Heinlein: exploring future cultural changes, especially nontraditional families, with multiple husbands and wives, but more traditional male/female rolls. "Men were men, and women were women" .

But the star of the story is Mark, the giant self aware computer, discovered by the hero when Mark starts to develop a sense of humor and asks our hero to teach it what a joke is, the nature of humor.
