This one had a nice twist and a side plot that is not reconciled by the end of the book (gosh darn! D'ya think there might be another in the series?). Not as much sex. Most of the characters are more fully fleshed out. I, personally, don't care much for one of the characters. Have already begun #3.

First in a series. Not quite a "cosy" novel. Lots of "blood and guts" as my mother would have said. Quite a bit of sex in this one, also. A nice stable of characters that will probably get fleshed out in subsequent books. A bit of Southern dialect thrown in, but not too much to annoy. Don't worry, ya'll will understand.

Former police detective Clint Wolf is now the police chief for Mechant Loup, a town in southeast Louisiana. But tranquility of the town is broken when an arm in found in the mouth of an alligator. Unfortunately this is just the start.
An enjoyable and well-plotted story. A good solid start to the series.

Fifteen months have passed and Chief Clint Wolf and his team investigate the death of a female who has been shot by an arrow. But this will not be the last verdict. Can they determine a motive and find the killer.
Meanwhile detective Susan Wilson is being investigated by the grand jury for her part in a shooting 15 months ago. It would seem that D.A Bill Hedd is determined to indict her but why.
An enjoyable and well-written mystery story
